Origin Story
In 2015, Jake and his close friend Matt decided to team up and create MJ Property Services LLC. Their passion for the outdoors and customer service have helped them create a full-service lawn and landscaping company focused on quality.
Matt and Jake have grown their business from humble beginnings. While expanding, they have remained focused on maintaining the attention to detail the brand was built on.
In 2016, they decided to go all in and full-time with the business and the rest is history.
The owners take great pride in MJ Property Services and the solutions that it provides.
Co-owning this business has truly been a blessing. Matt and Jake are very thankful for the customers that make it all possible. MJ Property Services feels it is their responsibility to do everything they can for their customers.
Jake Colvin – CEO
Jake was raised in a small suburb of Kansas City, MO. He worked for a local lawn service company throughout high school. After he graduated high school in 2003, he moved to Springfield to attend Missouri State University where he completed a Bachelor of Science in General Business.
During his time in college, Jake fell in love with the natural beauty of the Ozarks. With all of the backpacking, hiking, kayaking, fishing, and camping opportunities the area has to offer, he decided to stay and build a life.
During this time, Jake worked as the sole proprietor and operator of a property preservation and maintenance company where he provided a wide variety of property services. The main clients of this company were properties owned by large banks and investors including Fannie Mae.
Jake was excited to bring this industry experience to a new venture with his friend Matt. He loves bringing amazing service to the greater Springfield, Missouri area.
Matt Scherff – COO, CFO
Matt grew up in Springfield, MO, and attended college at Missouri State University where he studied Economics.
Before Matt and Jake became business partners, Matt had a mowing operation of his own that he ran throughout his high school and college years.
That experience taught him how much new business can be acquired by simply doing a great job from start to finish. By always being honest with customers and communicating well, he realized he could build a brand focused on quality.
Matt lives by the code that anything worth doing, is worth doing well. He applies that lesson in both his personal life and work experience. His business responsibilities include keeping the business operations and finances running smoothly.
He is incredibly excited to deliver amazing service through this amazing brand with his friend and co-owner Jake.
